IGSA Downhill Skateboard World Cup - Alpspeed - Homberg - Switzerland

18. - 22. July 2007

I honestly haven't been too motivated for that race and the road is really boring so I directly skipped the first day of practise. It was raining cats and dogs every night but with my exped tent that wasn't much of a problem. I kind of enjoyed the storm with beautiful lightnings and loud thunders. The next morning the road dried out quickly and we had some practise runs. It rained again in the evening. On fridayy we did the timetrials and after that I went swimming in the Lake of Thun. I met Jody with his girlfriend Marianne. It started raining again. So we went to drink a coffee in the city. We drove back up the hill to the riders campground and had dinner. It rained more. A really loud band started making some kind of music which I didn't like at all so I went to sleep

Raceday. The corner in the forest was wet. 10 riders crashed in the warmup run. The organizers wanted to start the race just from this very corner. I complained. There was a big mess and the race almost got cancelled. Then the race started from the original start with a one hour delay. I took it easy, maybe too easy. I really prefer racing on technical roads. Anyway, I was racing agaist Mischo and Erik in the semis and they were too fast for me. I ended up in the consolation final where I got 7th. Noah passed me as late as possible, not giving me a chance to strike back. Mischo Erban won the final which was a very close and packed heat. Afterwards Chris and I went to Thun. I jumped into the lake, it was very cold. We went back to the city and had coffee in a nice small restaurant. It rained and rained and rained. We ran back to the car and drove to the campground. It was a big mess, all wet and muddy. After a lot of blabla the prizegiving started. I think everybody was happy when it was over. I went back home with Chris. Nothing more to say.
